Welcome to M&T Bank. Because we know that switching banks can be extremely inconvenient, we've put together some simple forms to help ease your transition to M&T. Please follow the steps listed below.

1. Open a new M&T Checking account.
Once your M&T checking account is open, simply stop using your old account and start using your new M&T account.
2. Add Direct Deposit to your M&T Checking.
For the security and convenience of Payroll Direct Deposit, simply complete the Direct Deposit Authorization form or any other form your employer requires.
For Social Security Direct Deposit, please call the Social Security Administration at (800) 772-1213. Be sure to have your new M&T Account Information with you when you call.
3. Remember to change your automatic payments.
Please fill out the Authorization to Change Automatic Payments form to change any automatic payments from your old account, to your new M&T checking account. M&T offers several ways to make payments including M&T Web Bill Pay, M&T Check Card, or writing paper checks.
4. Use the Transfer Checklist.
The Automatic Payments Transfer Checklist will keep track of automatic payments you have authorized third parties to make from your mew M&T account, in one convenient place that you can refer to at any time. Web Bill Pay Users: We have also included a helpful reference chart that outlines the timing for web bill pay payment processing.
5. Close your old account.
Simply complete the Request to Close and Account form and send it to your old bank when: All the checks and other payments you authorized have been paid from your old account; Any direct deposits are being made to your new M&T account; and Any automatic payments are being made from your M&T account.
