Diversity Mission Statement
To guide the company in establishing a visible commitment to diversity that will support M&T's vision, our business strategies, corporate behavior, relationships with customers and our communities in a manner that enables employees to reach their full potential, and in so doing, maximizes shareholder value.
The M&T Diversity Council exists to ensure diversity within the workplace by spearheading, promoting, and guiding efforts that will enable M&T to be more effective in meeting the needs of our diverse employees, customers, shareholders and communities.
The Council's objectives are to:
- Maximize the corporation's ability to hire, retain, develop, and promote a qualified diverse workforce
- Ensure management commitment, leadership and support
- Encourage employee commitment and diversity awareness
- Monitor success and identify new diversity opportunities
The Diversity Council is comprised of 20 senior officers representing a variety of business lines that span M&T's footprint. Stephen J. Braunscheidel, executive vice president, Human Resources division, and a member of M&T's Management Group chairs the Council.
The M&T Bank Diversity Council has various sub-committees to help direct its focus on specific priority items. Subcommittees will change on an as-needed basis. Some may dissolve as their tasks are completed and others may arise as a need is identified. Posted information will be updated as changes occur.
