To turn on JavaScript in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Security tab.

  3. Locate Active scripting under Scripting settings. Click to select the Enable radio button.
  4. Click OK button on Security Settings and Internet Options windows to save your changes.

To turn on JavaScript in Firefox, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.., and then click the Content tab.
  2. Click to select the Enable JavaScript check box.
  3. Click OK button to save the setting.

Safari

To turn on JavaScript in Safari, follow these steps:

  1. Open Safari
  2. On the Safari menu, click on Preferences.
  3. Click the Security icon.
  4. Click on Enable JavaScript next to the Web Content section if it is not checked
  5. Close the Preferences window
  6. Close and restart Safari.

Opera 9.xx series

To turn on JavaScript in Opera 9.xx series, follow these steps:

  1. Open Opera.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Preferences.
  3. Click Content in the Preferences list.
  4. Check the box next to Enable JavaScript.
  5. Click the JavaScript Options button to open the JavaScript Options box.
  6. Check the boxes that you want to allow.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK.

Google Chrome(v0.4.154.23)

To turn on JavaScript in Google Chrome(v0.4.154.23), follow these steps:

  1. First close any open Chrome windows.
  2. Right click on a blank area of your Desktop.
  3. Select New.
  4. Create a new Shortcut with the following in the "Type the location of the item:" text box:
    • For Windows Vista:
      %userprofile%\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe -enable-javascript
    • For Windows XP:
      "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\chrome.exe" -enable-javascript
      Note: You'll have to enclose the file path for Windows XP in quotes due to there being spaces in it.

  • Yes, except on your M&T Credit Card. However, M&T branches​ are only equipped to order Custom Cards using the image gallery. If you want to design your card using a personal photo, you will need to find an alternate Internet source such as a friend or family member, your local library, Internet café, etc.

  • ​Yes, the M&T Custom Card Design Studio​ allows you to crop, rotate or scale your image. Cropping removes unwanted portions of a photo. Rotation changes the orientation of ​​a photo in 90-degree increments. Scaling resizes the image, larger or smaller.

  • ​Yes, you have the opportunity to edit the photo again or choose a different photo at any time before you submit your design for approval. (As long as you do not submit your design for approval, you will not incur an image set-up fee.)

  • ​You can enjoy the freedom of updating your Custom Card image as often as you would like should your design preferences change. (An additional $2.95 image set-up fee per approved design will apply.) To get started, simply visit the M&T Custom Card Design Studio​ and go through the same design process you did with your current Custom Card.

  • Any activated M&T Debit and/or Credit CardM&T Bills Debit Card, M&T Ravens Debit Card, M&T Monster Mile Debit Card or M&T Business Debit Card, with linked M&T accounts that are open and in good standing, may be eligible for consideration.

    NOTE: If you are customizing an M&T Bills Debit Card, M&T Ravens Debit Card or M&T Monster Mile Debit Card, your replacement card will no longer feature the Bills, Ravens or Monster Mile logos. Those logos and related images will be replaced with your custom image.

    Some foreign addresses may not be eligible to use the service.

    M&T cards that are not eligible for customization include, but are not limited to:

  • ​​Upon account validation, only you as the cardholder will have access to the M&T Custom Card Design Studio​.

  • ​Access to your image is restricted to authorized personnel that support the mandatory review that occurs for each submitted design to gauge compliance with Image Guidelines​, for customer service, or to support the systems and processes associated with creating your Custom Card. For your convenience, we will keep your image on file until you submit a new image or deactivate your account, after which, your image will be destroyed.

  • ​No, the purpose of the "Identify Yourself" template is to add a personal touch to the design of the card. It isn't a form of photo identification. There is no guarantee or expectation that merchants will use a photo on your card as an added form of security.

  • ​There is a $2.95 image set-up fee for each newly approved Custom Card design. The image set-up fee will be automatically (1) deducted from the primary checking account linked to the debit card you want to customize; or (2) charged to the retail credit card account associated with you credit card you want to customize. One fee will be charged per approved card design. Replacement cards will not incur this fee if the custom design remains unchanged.

  • The M&T Custom Card Design Studio gives you flexibility to quickly and easily customize the design of your card to reflect what's most important to you. Simply choose from two types of Custom Card templates, upload a digital photo (or choose one from our image gallery), then crop, rotate and resize until you're happy with it. 

  • ​If at any time you lose connection with our site, you will need to start the entire design process over. We do not store any images that are in process if your connection is lost. You will not incur an image set-up fee if your design hasn't been submitted for approval (final step).

  • ​M&T customer service representatives are available to assist you. Please call the number on the back of your card for assistance. If you have a personal M&T Debit or Credit Card, please call the M&T Telephone Banking Center at 1-800 724-24​​40. If you have an M&T Business Debit Card​, please call the M&T Business Telephone Banking Center at 1-800-724-6070.

  • ​No, the image set-up fee will not be charged on subsequent card issuances ​where the image has not been altered or changed (lost/stolen replacements, damaged card replacements, expiration date changes, etc.).

  • ​Yes, your new card will come with chip technology which improves security when used at a chip-enabled terminal.

  • ​If the design you submit does not meet the Image Guidelines​ and is rejected, your current card design will not be altered, no image set-up fee will be charged, and no replacement card will be issued.

  • ​This depends on the type of Internet connection that you have and the size of the file that you are uploading. The upload time could be a few minutes, so please be patient. If you have transferred like images to other types of web services from your computer, the transfer time should be similar. See the Image Upload Guidelines​ for additional information.

  • ​You can customize the design of your card in two different ways. With the "Custom Background" template, you can upload a digital photo or choose one from our image gallery to showcase across the background of your card. With the "Identify Yourself" template, you can upload a digital photo of yourself in the upper right-hand corner of your card. A $2.95 image set-up fee for each Custom Card design may apply.

    NOTE: The "Identify Yourself" card is not a form of photo identification. There is no guarantee or expectation that merchants will use a photo on your card as an added form of security.

  • ​​​Upon expiration, a replacement card will be sent to you featuring the same image as your most recent card. There is no additional image set-up fee if the card is reissued due to normal expiration or other replacement card situations, provided that the image on the reissued card has not been altered or changed,​ as long as the image is still available.

  • ​No, you will not be charged an image set-up fee if your design is rejected.

  • ​Choose a clear, sharply foc​​​used image, preferably taken at a high resolution [300 dots-per-inch (dpi) or greater]. You can also use photo editing software to retouch/enhance your photo prior to uploading it; however, it is not mandatory. See the Image Upload Guidelines for additional recommendations.

  • ​A digital photo is an image saved in an electronic format such as a JPEG on a CD (or other storage device) or on your mobile device or computer. If you have a printed photo and would like to use it on your card, stop by your local photo center to have your photo scanned and saved in an electronic format. The photo center may charge you for this service. See the Image Upload Guidelines​ for additional information.

  • You can quickly and easily request a replacement card by phone or by branch. Your new card will feature the same image as your most recent Custom Card, and you will not incur an additional image set-up fee.

    If you have a personal M&T Debit and/or Credit Card:

    • Visit your local M&T branch

    If you have an M&T Business Debit Card:

    • Visit your local M&T branch

    (Rush delivery available upon request provided that the image on the reissued card has not been altered or changed; fees may apply for rush delivery, please speak with an M&T representative for details.)

  • If your Custom Card is ever lost or stolen, immediately call the M&T Telephone Banking Center at 1-800-724-1552 or stop by your local M&T branch​ to report the incident so that your card can be quickly deactivated and replaced. 

    Your new card will feature the same image as your most recent Custom Card, and you will not incur an additional image set-up fee.

  • ​If your design doesn’t meet the Image Upload Guidelines, it will be rejected, and we will notify you via email. You will not be charged an image set-up fee if your design is rejected. If you would like to try again with another image, please return to the M&T Custom Card Design Studio​ to upload a new image or choose one from our image gallery.

  • ​Yes, on an exception basis, company logos that appear to be owned by the business whose deposit account is linked to your card may be permitted. Additional information might be requested to verify that the business logo usage is acceptable.

  • Any picture you wish to upload to the design studio must be in digital format. JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), PNG, GIF, Bitmap (.bmp) or TIFF formats are acceptable. The minimum file size should be at least 50KB in size and at least 840 X 840 pixels. You cannot upload an image that is less than 840 pixels along its smallest side. The maximum file size cannot exceed 10 megabytes (MB).

    How to find image properties:

    • PC users can usually find file format, size and pixel dimensions by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Properties"
    • Mac users can usually find pixel dimensions by clicking on the file and selecting "Get Info" (the method for finding this information will vary depending on your individual operating system) – see the Image Upload Guidelines for additional information
  • ​There are hundreds of images available in the image gallery, from colors and patterns to landscapes and destinations. Or choose from sports, animals, heritage or professional images. Customize to your interests and personality. NOTE: The Fan Zone category is not an available gallery for M&T Credit Cards.

  • ​Yes, your existing card will continue to work until your new Custom Card is received and activated. Your M&T account number, card number, expiration date (Credit Card only) and PIN will remain the same. Please destroy your existing card once your replacement Custom Card is activated.

  • ​We do our best to ensure the Custom Cards we produce maintain the integrity of the image you approve. Due to differences in monitor displays, computer graphics capabilities, the size and quality of your image, as well as the production process, which includes some cropping around the entire card, the design you create and approve online may vary slightly from the actual card you receive. If you are not completely satisfied with your card, please contact us using the telephone number on the back of your card. If you have a personal M&T Debit and/or Credit Card, please call the M&T Telephone Banking Center at 1-800-724-2440. If you have an M&T Business Debit Card, please call the M&T Business Telephone Banking Center at 1-800-724-6070. 

  • ​Your request for a custom design will be processed using the expiration date that is currently in place for your account. Cards expire on the last day of the month displayed on your card. Prior to the start of your expiration month, a replacement card will be generated that uses the new expiration year. If you’ve ordered your Custom Card near the time of the automatic expiration reissue, you may get two cards in the mail. Depending on the timing, one of those cards may not utilize your current design. If this happens, simply activate the Custom Card with the updated expiration date and then destroy the other card.

  • ​No, your M&T account number, card number, expiration date and PIN will remain the same. The only thing that will be different is the look of your card. You can still use your card at millions of locations worldwide (anywhere Visa® credit or debit cards are accepted). 

  • ​Your email address is collected so that we may provide you with a notification of the approval decision for your image. It will be used only for this one-time email and will not be stored as part of your account or customer information.

  • ​We will notify you via email within one to seven business days to let​​ you know whether your image is approved, or if it does not meet the Image Guidelines​ and is rejected. You will not be charged an image set-up fee unless your design is approved and your Custom Card replacement is issued.

  • ​To customize the design of your card, you can select an image from our image gallery or upload your own image such as a photo of your family, friends, pets, favorite scenery, place of business, etc. While all of the images in our image gallery are approved for use in the design of your card, personal images you upload must adhere to our Image Guidelines,​ which should help you choose an acceptable image. (M&T reserves the right to reject any image we believe violates our Image Guidelines.)

  • ​After your design has been approved, you can expect to receive your new Custom Card in the mail within four to seven business days via the U.S. Postal Service. Your card will be shipped to the permanent address associated with your account.

  • It's quick and easy to apply for an M&T Credit Card or request an M&T Debit Card. Choose from the following options.

  • ​Yes, you have the opportunity to edit the photo again or choose a different photo at any time before you submit your design for approval. (As long as you do not submit your design for approval, you will not incur an image set-up fee.)

  • ​You can use photo editing software to retouch/enhance your photo prior to uploading it; however, certain disposable cameras, mobile phones and other picture-taking devices don’t produce high-quality, high-resolution images. As a result, you may not be able to alter the file to make it meet the Image Upload Guidelines​, and you will then need to upload another image or choose one from our image gallery.

  • ​If the image is too big, the design studio provides you with tools that allow you to crop, rotate and resize your image to fit on your card to your satisfaction. If your image does not​​ meet the minimum image size requirements as outlined in the Image Upload Guidelines​, it will not upload to the design studio. If you're not satisfied with the image you upload, or if your image is too small to upload, you can select another image to upload or choose one from our image gallery.

  • ​The image set-up fee will not be charged on subsequent card issuances where the image has not been altered or changed (lost/stolen replacements, damaged card replacements, expiration date changes, etc.).

  • ​If you no longer wish to have a Custom Card design and want to switch back to a standard card design, you can do so quickly and easily at no additional expense.
