  • Use your M&T consumer debit or credit card and small business debit or credit cards for Samsung Pay. Be sure to set your M&T Debit or Credit Card as the "Default Card" on your Samsung device.

  • Add your M&T credit or debit card to Samsung Pay by opening the Samsung Pay app after the download is complete. You can either use your device camera to capture an image of the card, or enter the card data manually. Then enter any additional information required. You may need to provide additional information to verify your card for security purposes.

  • Samsung Pay uses a contactless payment technology from an eligible Samsung device to allow merchants to receive customer payments. For more information on Samsung Pay and a full list of participating stores and apps, visit samsung-pay.

  • Download the Samsung Pay app from your device’s app store. Once downloaded, you can add your preferred M&T card to the app.

  • Go into your device Settings, and create a Samsung account. Add a fingerprint and backup PIN. You can also use the phone's camera to scan the card information and then the account is secured with a fingerprint and backup PIN. For more information, please visit samsung-pay

  • For security purposes, we might ask you for additional information when adding your card to Samsung Pay. When prompted, select your verification method – 1. Call M&T at 1-877-334-9065 or 2. Open the M&T app. You can either call the number that pops up, which will direct you to an M&T representative who will assist you through the verification process, or enter the one-time passcode sent to you through mobile banking.

  • Samsung Pay creates an electronic version of your credit and debit cards, assigning them device account numbers for added protection. Once created, you can use Samsung Pay at merchants accepting contactless payments, as well as mag-stripe /chip card terminals commonly deployed in stores where a card can be swiped.

Samsung Pay uses technology that allows users to transact with both contactless Near Field Communication (NFC) terminals, as well as at terminals without NFC functionality. Transactions occurring at non-NFC terminals are done using technology owned by Samsung Pay, called Magnetic Secure Technology (MST). MST allows you to make a transaction at virtually any terminal where you can swipe a card, excluding gas station pumps.  For more information on how Samsung Pay and MST works, visit samsung-pay

  • Security is our first priority at M&T, and Samsung Pay uses extra security measures to help keep transactions secure.

    • Enrollment verification requests when adding your card to Samsung Pay
    • Use of tokenization, where your card number is replaced with an encrypted digital token for each Samsung Pay transaction
    • Samsung Pay does not retain your card data, and your card information is not saved on your device
    • Transactions are covered by M&T Assurance®, which helps to prevent, detect and resolve fraud
    • Purchases made using Samsung Pay are covered by Visa Zero LiabilityDIS-195-DIS, so you won’t be held liable for unauthorized transactions.

If you believe you have been a victim of fraud related to your M&T accounts, notify us immediately at 1-800-375-8097, so we can take action to help you.

  • Immediately notify your phone carrier if your phone is lost or stolen. Your device account number is different than your card number. Therefore, your M&T plastic debit and credit cards will not be affected and can still be used.

It’s recommended that users turn on “Find My Mobile” in your Samsung account prior to enabling Samsung Pay. Find My Mobile can help users find lost devices, remotely lock a device, or erase the contents of a device. Find My Mobile can be found in the Security folder in your Samsung device settings.

  • If your M&T plastic card is lost or stolen, please notify M&T immediately at 1-800-724-1552. We will cancel your card and issue you a new card. Once you activate your new card, you will need to follow the steps for enrolling that card in Samsung Pay.
