For over 30 years, our dedicated M&T Business Capital Team has built flexible financing solutions for companies facing the following challenges:

  • Leveraged financial conditions
  • Highly seasonal
  • Cyclical
  • Rapid growth
  • Business restructuring/turnaround
  • Exit financing from bankruptcy
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Leveraged and management buyouts
  • Recapitalizations

Our Clients

We provide financing to manufacturers, distributors, processors, service companies and government contractors with revenues generally in excess of $35 million. Our focus is primarily the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, including New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, Virginia, West Virginia, Massachusetts and Washington, DC.

Loan Profile

Our Credit Facilities

Typical loans range from $10 million to $50 million, but we have the ability to lead larger multi-bank transactions. We offer secured revolving lines of credit with maturities of three to five years. When necessary, these lines of credit can include seasonal overadvances as well as special-buy accommodations when funds are needed outside the predefined terms of agreement.

Types of Loans

For those clients with requirements beyond traditional working capital, we offer:

  • Term A secured loans (usually matures in concert with the revolver maturity)
  • Term B undersecured loans (customized to your cash flows with recapture provisions to pay off within a 3-year period)

Additional Services

If the capital structure warrants, we also offer a second lien product, which is a more attractive alternative to traditional subordinated debt (debt that ranks in repayment priority behind other debts if a company falls into liquidation or bankruptcy). Loans are generally secured by the same assets that secure the first lien, but the amount will be based upon our assessment of the company’s enterprise value on a discounted basis.

Relationship-Driven Approach

M&T Bank’s philosophy is based on building strong relationships with our clients, with special emphasis on supporting the needs of the owners and management of the companies with whom we do business. We use all of our institutional resources including Capital Markets, International Trade Finance, Treasury Management and Wealth Management to develop a comprehensive solution for your business.
