Hiring Process

M&T strives to be the best place our employees ever work and we're glad you are interested in joining our team. Here's a brief overview of our hiring process to give you a better understanding of the steps involved.

Getting Started

  1. Search our available jobs to find a position that is right for
    you - one that matches your background and experience and aligns with your career goals.
  2. Build (or update) your online profile to tell us why you’d be a
    great fit with M&T.
  3. Use that profile to submit your application for the
    appropriate position(s).

We encourage you to create your profile today even if you didn’t locate the right career opportunity. Our recruiters regularly search this database when seeking qualified candidates for open positions. Be sure to make the information in your profile comprehensive to ensure we find it in our search when applicable.

Applying
When applying for a job at M&T Bank, candidates are required to complete a candidate profile. Individuals with special needs who may require assistance with this task can request an accommodation by sending an e-mail to hrdirect@mtb.com.

As part of your application, you will be asked to update or provide the following:

  • Contact information
  • Educational background
  • Work experience

The application process should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete, unless you’re applying to a position that requires an online assessment.  Please note that you can always save your application and return at a later time to complete it.

After Applying
You will receive an e-mail confirming that we have received your application in our system. We will then review your qualifications relative to the position(s) for which you have applied.

M&T Bank has a highly competitive application process.  If your application is selected, you will be contacted directly.  Candidates not selected for an interview will remain active in our system and can be considered for other career opportunities.

Interviewing Process
Qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview with Human Resources.  Successful candidates will advance in the process to interview with the hiring manager.  The recruiter will be your primary contact throughout the recruiting process.
