Portfolio Architect

Simple. Intelligent. Versatile.

Portfolio Architect is a managed account program that does the hard work for you. Sponsored and managed by M&T Bank and offered through M&T Securities, Inc., Portfolio Architect programs are designed for long-term investors seeking professional asset allocation and manager selection in one convenient account.

Simple: A Diversified Strategy

When it comes to investing, no one can predict the future, but there is a way to prepare for it. Portfolio Architect offers a diversified strategy: diversification is incorporated and rebalancing is automatic.

Instant diversification has long been shown to be an important part of enhancing returns over time while reducing volatility.* With Portfolio Architect, this is built-in: a risk-weighted mix of equities, fixed income and other asset classes is then further broken down into different types of investments within each group.

Over time, market performance can shift a strategy’s asset class balance, no longer reflecting the initial allocations. Through Portfolio Architect, investment professionals periodically rebalance strategies to align with the original allocations and risk tolerance levels.

*A well-diversified portfolio won't guarantee profits or protect against loss.

Intelligent: A Disciplined Approach

Experience you can trust

Portfolio Architect is sponsored and managed by M&T Bank, with investment support provided by the professionals at Wilmington Trust Investment Advisors, Inc. (WTIA). You can count on an experienced team of economists, analysts and portfolio managers to provide asset allocation, manager research and portfolio construction insights to M&T Bank.

WTIA employs a disciplined approach, guided by market theory and economic data. In an effort to avoid emotions of “selling low” or “buying high” that have led many investors astray, they rely on a sophisticated process—analyze, implement, adjust—to incorporate their best thinking into the Portfolio Architect programs.

Versatile: A Flexible Framework

Portfolio Architect is a long-term investment program that offers a range of risk-adjusted strategies, from the most conservative (largely fixed income) to the most aggressive (largely or all equities). Each Portfolio Architect strategy is designed based on a given objective and amount of risk. And as your goals and risk appetite evolve, you can transition to a different strategy that may better suit the new you.
