WTIA's Investment Advisory Services
WTIA employs a disciplined approach to asset allocation, and has developed a portfolio construction strategy designed to efficiently implement each client's policy based on their unique objectives, risk tolerance and other considerations. It is built on three key elements:
- A forward-looking asset allocation approach
- An open architecture philosophy
- A rigorous manager selection and monitoring process
An effective asset allocation strategy requires an appropriate balance between a client’s desired return and their tolerance for risk. A successful asset allocation strategy includes a complete understanding of the client’s objectives, time horizon, target growth rates, risk tolerance, and liability streams, combined with a thorough understanding of the risk and return parameters of various asset classes.
Fixed Income Strategies
We offer institutional clients a range of fixed income portfolios — from short to long-term durations. A consistently applied, disciplined fixed income philosophy has been used in client portfolios for more than 15 years.
At WTIA, we employ a top-down, relative-value approach to fixed income investing and sector selection based on a thorough understanding of each portfolio’s constraints and tolerance for risk. We undertake rigorous analysis of the following components in order to construct a portfolio: duration management, yield curve management, sector selection, credit analysis, and industry/issue selection.
We over- or under-weight market sectors, industries or yield-curve segments deemed to be relatively under- or over-valued, respectively. As risk containment is paramount, our objective is to position the portfolios in such a way that our sector, interest rate, yield curve and credit analysis can add value on a risk adjusted basis.
As part of our top-down, relative-value investment approach, we utilize quantitative, fundamental and technical analysis in order to seek attractive sectors and securities for investment. Just as we maintain a consistently applied selection process, we also use a rigorous approach to both our risk management and sell discipline processes in managing fixed income portfolios.
