We understand the growing concern associated with COVID-19 (coronavirus), not only world-wide, but right in the towns where we live and work.

As COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to affect the way we live, work, and interact, we want to ensure your banking needs are cared for, while also providing a safe environment for our customers and employees. To achieve this balance:

  • All ATMs and drive-up windows will continue to remain open as well as our teller lines that accommodate safe social distancing
  • Effective Monday March 23, branch lobbies will be open by appointment only. Please call 1-800-724-2440 to schedule a time that is convenient for you or visit mtb.com/locations for location-specific details, including branch contact information

We understand that financial situations can change quickly, and we are here to help.

Our caring team is skilled and ready to assist you. We have empowered our staff to support your specific needs. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact us. Solutions available to personal and business banking customers impacted by coronavirus include:

  • A special unsecured personal loan up to $5,000 at a reduced APR of 2.99% to cover living expenses or other necessities. Offer good in NY, MD, NJ, PA, DE, CT, VA, WV, and DC
  • Fee relief on deposit and lending solutions

If you are having difficulty making your scheduled payments during this uncertain time, M&T is taking the following actions for all customers (no action required):

  • Suspending negative credit reporting for all customers through the end of May 2020

You can complete a COVID-19 Impact Form to tell us how you are being financially impacted by COVID-19. We will reach out to you to discuss additional assistance options, which may include:

  • Late fee suppression
  • Time to develop and execute a payment plan
  • Making changes to your current loan payment amount or loan length

Plus, starting Monday, March 23, 2020:

  • ATM Transaction fees charged by M&T will be waived for all customers through the end of April1
  • All early withdrawal fees on CDs open greater than 7 days will be waived through the end of April

For our Business Banking customers, we will also waive the monthly maintenance fee for Remote Check Deposit service through the end of April2.

Our teams are in contact with local and state authorities and are closely following the guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (cdc.gov). As a result, we have taken these measures:

  • Facility Cleaning. Branches and other office locations have implemented enhanced cleaning services including wiping down high touch areas
  • Social Distancing. We've reduced the number of employees and visitors in our offices, employees that have the capability are working from home and holding virtual meetings, essential employees that must still come in to a branch or office location are following the CDCs guidelines for safe hygiene
  • Travel. We have suspended all business travel for employees, domestically and internationally and following all CDC self-isolation guidelines

During times of heightened fear and confusion, scammers are looking to take advantage of these situations. Their goal is to gain access to your accounts and steal sensitive information.

Look out for deceptive emails, texts, and phone calls that may look like they are coming from reputable companies, charities, or government agencies such as the CDC and WHO.
