It’s hard to believe that 2024 is already over, and even harder to believe that the fifth year of the M&T Spotlight Shop initiative has flown by. We’ve been so proud to support local small businesses in New York, Connecticut, Maryland and beyond, and we’re just getting started. From welcoming exciting new businesses to taking our Holiday Gift Guide to the next level, 2024 has been a year for the books.
When we decided to open the Spotlight Shop to non-M&T customers, our hope was to promote more small businesses than ever before. And this year, we did just that. From record stores to empanada shops, we welcomed 130 businesses to the Spotlight Shop, and we’re so excited to continue uplifting them in 2025 and beyond.
In addition to making a pit stop in Rochester, NY, we were thrilled to take the Spotlight Shop trailer somewhere it has never been before: Boston, MA! While in Boston, the trailer popped up at Dewey Square to connect five Spotlight Shop businesses with the community. Here’s a peek at our time in Beantown!
In addition to a downloadable version of the Spotlight Shop Holiday Gift Guide, we offered a unique, localized version of the Guide on our website. This allowed users from select markets to view a list of Spotlight Shop businesses in their area that they could shop at in person.
For the first time, the Spotlight Shop hosted a giveaway – just in time for the holiday season. During our 7 Days of Spotlight Shop Holiday Gift Guide Giveaways, Instagram users had the opportunity to win incredible prizes from a handful of businesses featured in this year’s guide. From artisanal candy to soaps and body scrubs, our prizes were meant to bring a little holiday cheer to each winner.
There’s no better feeling than reflecting on everything the Spotlight Shop has accomplished this past year.
