BUSINESS EMAIL COMPROMISE (BEC) scams are still highly prevalent and are the root cause of payment fraud. Seventy-one percent of organizations experienced attempted or actual BEC1 . Larger organizations (annual revenue of over $1 billion) were the most susceptible to BEC scams and payment fraud as a result of executive and vendor impersonation. Smaller companies still see instances of BEC but were more likely to be frauded by emails from individuals outside of their organization.
