We are pleased to announce that your People’s United Merchant Services account is transitioning to M&T Bank.
Please review the FAQs below for additional information.
We are excited to begin directly providing our Merchant Services skills and expertise to assist you and your business as of January 31, 2025. With this change, you can expect an enhanced level of service and support from the same M&T team who manages your overall banking relationship today. You can also expect your Merchant Services card processing experience to remain very much the same including:
Card payment authorizations will continue to process through the Worldpay platform
Settlement of funds will be made to your current settlement account, as they are today
No change to your existing equipment/software solution/POS system
Your pricing will remain consistent with your current agreement
Monthly statements will be delivered in the same manner as you receive them
today
Access to your Merchant Services account and transaction information via the IQ portal
Continue to call the same toll-free number (1-800-617-1723) for service and support
One change to note:
Your Merchant Processing Agreement will be amended to solely be with M&T Bank among other changes. This Agreement is available for your review. We strongly encourage you to click on this link to review your new Agreement and download or print a copy for your records.

FAQs
M&T Bank has reached an agreement with Worldpay, LLC to acquire Worldpay, LLC's portion of the People's United Merchant Services portfolio. Your Merchant relationship will now be 100% with M&T Bank Merchant Services. With this change, you can expect an enhanced level of service and support. We are excited to begin directly providing our Merchant Services skills and expertise to assist you and your business.
The transition will occur on January 31, 2025.
Very little will change with how you process transactions today:
- Card payment authorizations will continue to process through the Worldpay platform
- No change to your existing equipment/software solution/POS system
- Going forward both interchange and discount fees will be reflected in one monthly statement
- Settlement of funds will be made to your current settlement account, as they are today
- These settlements will have a new descriptor:
- “MTBMRCHDEP” for deposits
- “MTBMRCHBL” for withdrawals
- These settlements will have a new descriptor:
We will provide you with an additional Merchant Identification number (MID) and Chain #. These will be provided via direct mail prior to the January 31, 2025, migration date. You can use both your current or additional MID and Chain numbers to help identify yourself when calling for service or customer support. They will also be viewable in the IQ portal and in settlement transaction descriptions.
Your pricing will remain consistent with your current agreement.
You can continue to call the same toll-free number (1-800-617-1723) for service and support. However, calls will be routed directly to the M&T Merchant Customer Service center, where our in-house experts, well versed in your merchant relationship, can respond directly to any merchant or banking related question.
You will continue to access your account and transaction information via the IQ portal. As part of this transition, the password you use today to access your merchant account(s) through the IQ portal will need to be updated. During the evening of 1/31/25 between 10pm and 1am, you will receive an email notification from the following address: -no-reply-iq@accessmyiq.com, which will include your temporary password.
The next time you want to access IQ, please navigate to the IQ portal at the standard IQ URL location: https://www.accessmyiq.com/login and follow the steps below:
Login by utilizing the temporary password that was provided in the email on the evening of 1/31. Your username will remain the same as it is today.
Once the temporary password has been entered, you will be prompted to set a new password which will be used moving forward.
The system will request that you select a security device from a list of phone #’s that are in your user profile for multi-factor authentication.
Once logged in, you will have visibility into your current PUMS chains as well as your new M&T chains.
Yes, you will have access to this information through the M&T iQ Account Management Tool.
Yes, you can continue to utilize your current equipment, POS systems and software integrations. Since all payment transactions will continue to process on the Worldpay platform, no change to your choice of equipment/software solution/POS system will be required. If any change is required, we will contact you directly.
No, transactions will still process as they do today.
The branding on your statements will change from People’s United Merchant Services to M&T Merchant Services. Statements will continue to be available through IQ. Going forward both interchange and discount fees will be reflected in one monthly statement. If your statements are currently emailed or sent via direct mail, they will continue to be delivered in that manner.
