Are you resetting your passcode for security reasons?
Periodically changing your passcode is a prudent measure for protecting your digital information. If you want to update your passcode for your personal or business accounts, log in to
M&T Online Banking, hover over the “Settings and Support” tab and select “My Profile.” You can change your passcode from there.

If you are a commercial customer and want to update or have forgotten your passcode or User ID, please call 1-800-724-2240 (Monday–Friday 8am–6pm ET) and one of our Commercial Service Team Representatives will gladly assist you.
Have you forgotten your passcode?
If you’ve forgotten your passcode for your personal or business online banking account, click the “Help with Your Passcode” link on the
M&T Online Banking login screen. You’ll first need to enter your User ID and Social Security Number.
Next you’ll need to verify your identity. You can either use your M&T Debit Card or ATM Card, your M&T Credit Card, or your M&T Online Banking Security Questions. It’s important to note:
- If you use your
M&T Debit or ATM card, you will also need your
- If you use your
M&T Credit Card, you will also need your
3-digit Security Code
- If you opt to answer your
security questions, you will need to
answer two correctly
Once you’ve provided all the necessary information, you can change your passcode.

Get help over the phone.
You can also change your personal or business passcode over the phone. To change your passcode using our automated system, call 1-800-790-9130 and select option two. You will need to enter your M&T Debit or Check card.
If you don’t have your M&T Debit or Check card, you can change your passcode by speaking to a representative. Once you have verified that you are the account holder, we’ll be able to give you a temporary passcode. Then the next time you sign in to your Online Banking account, you’ll be asked to change your passcode from the temporary passcode.
