Data Foundations Course
The M&T Tech Academy is proudly partnering with Pluralsight One to bring a virtual instructor-led, 12-week credentialling program to WNY residents.

This free offering provides participants with an introduction to data analytics covering a variety of foundational topics and will strengthen and build in-demand tech skill sets.
No previous experience is required but there will be a questionnaire to ensure applicants have an aptitude to complete this program. Participants will receive an introduction to data analytics, going over the basics such as ways to utilize excel, SQL, and PowerBI to visualize data.
With this skillset, you can:
Develop an understanding of data management principles
Develop an understanding of and comfortability with using data management and business intelligence tools
Complete basic analysis of data sets and learn to provide insights to team members for presentations
What You Can Expect
- Remote, instructor led sessions provided on a weekly basis for up to 12 weeks
- Ongoing assessments to measure skills gain progress throughout the program

- One capstone project so culminate the participant’s experience

Who is eligible to participate?
This program seeks to provide a learning opportunity for all residents of Western New York. Applicants must live in one of the following counties: Niagara, Erie, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Monroe, Livingston, Wayne, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, or Allegany County.
Are candidates required to have specific educational or career experience to participate?
At minimum, participants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency. Higher educational or career experience is not required to participate in this program.
What are the required materials needed to participate?
All participants will need to have access to a laptop and are able to install the software necessary to complete the course as well as access to reliable Wi-Fi.
Note: Several applications that will be utilized throughout the program are built for a Windows operating system. PCs are preferred.
What is the time commitment for this program?
The course will run for 12 weeks starting on January 6 meeting every Saturday from 10am – 2pm EST. There will be 2 - 4 hours a week of required in-class time and 3 - 8 hours of self-paced learning.
Will I receive a certificate for completing these courses?
Yes, certificates will be awarded to students who graduate from the course.
